Power 106FM was established in December 1992 with an initial focus on talk radio. Over time, the station evolved into a hybrid format that combined talk and music, as reflected in its popular slogan - 'Come for the talk, stay for the music'.

In 2001, Power 106FM made the decision to transition into an all-talk format. This change was accompanied by the acquisition of programs such as 'Perkins On Line' and others, which joined the station's morning show, 'Independent Talk'. Subsequently, shows like 'Dear Pastor' and 'An Ounce of Prevention' were also added.

Power 106FM has set its sights on becoming Jamaica's first 24/7 all-talk radio station. With talk shows currently accounting for 70.2% of total radio listenership, research indicates that Power 106FM's programs dominate the airwaves from 5:30 in the morning until midnight. Additionally, the station's web stream, available for free at www.go-jamaica.com, generated an impressive 689,675 hits in just one month. This presents excellent opportunities for manufacturers and exporters to reach the international market. Furthermore, web listeners during the 5:00am to 8:00pm time segment make up an astonishing 66% of daytime listenership.
